Dalmatians are bad with Kids?

My whole life I have always wanted a Dalmatian, now that I am a mother; people have been telling me that they are dangerous for small children. I have been told that they bite a lot, and growl, and just plain not good for a family. Well, I am a stubborn person so I decided to start fostering Dalmatians for a wonderful organization that rescues them. The Dalmatian Rescue Society of Puget Sound. I am so amazed at how wonderful these dogs truly are. The dog that I am fostering now is another prime example of a "good dog". His name is Bradley and he is 14 years old. He is very protective of myself and my children. He rotates beds at night, hopping in bed with me and my husband, and then I have caught him laying in bed with my youngest 6 year old daughter also standing guard. He has never bit any of us and he is a very obedient dog. I had some initial fears on how having a Dalmatian might not work out as I had always dreamed it would, and I am so glad that all of those fears are gone. Does anybody else have a Dalmatian story to share?
