Overwhelmed!

I just got home from my practicum 1 site interview. Overall, i guess it went well. My prior experience along with currently working in a vet clinic they liked. They have mentored other techs before and said I would be their 3rd one they've done. The clinic is 2 doctors, 3 techs, 2 receptionists, kennel person, and everyone learns to do most of the jobs. They DO have an "old fashioned" x-ray machine that required film development, so thats a plus.

Several staff members have been there over 10yrs, and everyone seems really nice.

I am feeling overwhelmed because she asked me a simple question about what the medical math class entailed. I said dosage calculations, but sounded so uncertain! It took me a minute to think about it! I knew she would ask questions and tried to prepare myself for whatever she may throw at me. Something that simple and I nearly choked.

She also told me that I would basically be plopped right in, and when I was comfortable I could just jump in. Which is good. She also said any downtime would be filled with asking questions and testing my knowledge: what do you do during a spay/neuter? what do you do during this? how is this done? She said anything I didn't know the answer to, that would be the time to say so and learn.

I am feeling overwhelmed because I feel like I will go in there and draw blanks all the time whenever I am asked a question on the spot. I liked the place and feel that it might be a good fit since it has most everything I will need, but I can't help but feel so nervous I will go in and suddenly know nothing! I know the first week will probably be rocky. I just need to really cram and do a lot of studying before and during. Luckily my proctors will be coming up soon so I will be cramming anyway.

How did everyone, especially those of you who may not have had any veterinary experience in the beginning, do with your practicums? Some good reassuring vibes would be much appreciated.
