question about book shipment - new to program

Hi.  I am excited about enrolling in the Associate's Degree program for Graphic Design.  I unfortunately enrolled on a holiday week (last Tuesday) and am starting into Computer Applications.  I understand that obviously my books are not here because of the holiday week, but wanted to know if they wait to ship the next set of books/info until after you finish the exam on the previous course?  In other words, will there be a 5-10 day lapse every time before I receive my next book/supplies.  Just curious.  I know one can start their next course online but wanted to know how it worked with the textbooks.  Thanks
