So here, we are, ten days into the new year, how is everyone doing with their resolutions? I'm not a big fan of new year's resolutions, but I do make them. More than anything I think a brand new year is a chance to start off with a clean slate. It's no secret that I'm a fan of the art of writing, so I think it's important to actually write down those resolutions, and keep them handy. That little slip of paper or virtual sticky note is a concrete reminder of the goals you want to achieve, and trust me you can achieve them!
Here are some of my resolutions.
Jewelry
I make this resolution almost every year: wear earrings every day, and at least one other piece of jewelry. Over the years I've accumulated quite the collection, and it's a shame I let the pieces sit in a box or in my jewelry stand. So it's about time for some pience to spend more time out in the world.
Organization
I have a problem with setting things down and dealing with them later, and it's always in the same spots so they get really cluttered! It also doesn't help that I have a slight purse, perfume, and shoe addiction, so finding space for everything can be a challenge. I did make a shoe rule for myself last year. When I get a new pair, an old pair needs to be tossed or donated, if I didn't wear them much and they were in good condition. I was pretty good with that rule, so that will continue.
Cooking
Baking comes pretty easily to me, and it's something I really enjoy. For example, each Christmas I bake the staples of sugar cookies and chocoloate chip cookies, but add one or two new cookies each year. This year was a cinnimon roll cookie and a butter cookie. I use the Cake Boss's butter cookie recipe, and it's a keeper! Now when it comes to cooking, there are a few things I do well:waffles, pancakes, grilled cheese (just today for lunch I made one. I used olive oil, instead of butter, and mozzerella cheese...yum!), mac and cheese, scrambled eggs, and baked chicken fingers. These things get old after awhile, and I want to expand my cooking horizons. This is another ongoing resolution. Last year I made mashed potatoes from scratch for the first time, and figured out how to cook chicken in a skillet thanks to Land O'Lakes saute express.
Health
I think this one tops everyone's list, and I'm no different. Penn Foster has a gym onsite, plus I do have a gym membership, so there's really no good reason I don't go more.
Volunteer
Throughout the year I do make donations, but this year I want to make an effort to donate some of my time as well.
Be sure to share some of your resolutions, and how you plan on meeting your goals!
